July-August 2006

Midterm review of EU Trade related Technical Assistance project: An EC funded short term assignment to review the performance of three year project (Euro 6 million). Worked as national expert in the assignment and prepared a report for submission to the European Commission Brussels. 

July-August 2005

Need Assessment for Pakistan’s Trade Policy: funded by EC: This project was primarily focused on need assessment for technical assistance to Pakistan in the areas of Trade Policy, WTO related activities, Intellectual Property enforcement and trade related technical standards compliance. Worked in the project as national expert and prepared a report and set of recommendations upon which the future technical assistance was to be based.

March 2004- April 2005

IP Pakistan project on Intellectual Property Rights awareness and private sector readiness for TRIPS: This was a donor-funded project implemented by the Intellectual Property Rights Academy of Pakistan in collaboration with various international organizations of similar genre.
Team Leader for the TRIPS compliance issues group, the assignment was to analyze the existing Intellectual Property Laws of Pakistan in order to bring them in conformity with the TRIPS requirements keeping in view the domestic stakeholders’ concerns.
Arranged various seminars, workshops etc on protection of intellectual property rights in Pakistan.

January 2003- August 2004

Capacity Building Project for Ministry of Commerce Pakistan by DFID: The UK Department for International Development (DFID) funded a project worth US$ 2 million for capacity building of the WTO Wing of Ministry of Commerce, the related government departments and private sector stakeholders.
Worked as coordinator of the WTO Wing for project.
Conducted various capacity building related projects including seminars, workshops and publications etc.
Prepared a report on conformance of Pakistan to the WTO regime and readiness for post quota textile trade.

Training/Teaching Experience

Worked as visiting faculty member/instructor in various public and private sector institutions ranging from private business schools to government training institutes. Taught a variety of subjects including international trade/WTO, investment, international economics, financial management, public policy, taxation laws, auditing, micro finance, intellectual property law, international economic law, commercial laws and globalization.
